My Reed Organ Won't Make a Sound!

Reed Organ Stops - How to make your pump organ make soundsYou'd be surprised just how many people don't realize that in order to get any sound out of their pump organ they need to first pull out some stops (those round knobs with writing on them), while pumping the foot pedals.

Actually, they should really be called "makers" not stops, because they allow organs to make sound. It's true, they can stop the music, but they really control the different sounds that the organ can make. However, if the organ bellows are full of holes, and no longer work, it doesn't make any difference how many stops you pull out, the organ is not going to make a sound.
